How to Search

Each individual title in this database comprises a single record. Each record consists of six fields:

1. Bibliographic (author, title, publisher, date)
2. County
3. Town
4. Notes
5. Genre
6. Libraries.

The search options for this database consist of one search box and four drop-down browse menus. You can search by one individual field or you can combine two or more fields to narrow your search.

Keyword Search: Searches for words and numbers in the bibliographic field (author, title, publisher, date). Automatically looks for records containing all words placed in the box. To broaden the search, remove words from the box. To limit the search, place more words in the box.

County: Allows the selection of a county from the drop-down menu to browse all items about a particular county. The keyword search box can be used in conjunction with this browse feature to limit the list to items with certain author, title, or publication keywords. The other drop-down browse menus can also be used at the same time to further limit the search.

Town: Allows the selection of a town from the drop-down menu to browse all items about a particular town. The keyword search box can be used in conjunction with this browse feature to limit the list to items with certain author, title, or publication keywords. The other drop-down browse menus can also be used at the same time to further limit the search.

Library: Allows the selection of a library from the drop-down menu to browse all items in the bibliography housed at that library. The keyword search box can be used in conjunction with this browse feature to limit the list to items with certain author, title, or publication keywords. The other drop-down browse menus can also be used at the same time to further limit the search.

Genre: Allows the selection of a genre (e.g. biography, diary, oral history, etc) from the drop-down menu to browse all items in the bibliography of a particular type. The keyword search box can be used in conjunction with this browse feature to limit the list to items with certain author, title, or publication keywords. The other drop-down browse menus can also be used at the same time to further limit the search.

Search results are displayed 10 items per page. Scroll through the results list using the "Previous" and "Next" buttons at the top left of the page.
